Aberdeen Rotary to hear about Camphill

Talk to look at Camphill's foundation in Aberdeen

Members of the Rotary Club of Aberdeen will hear about the work of Camphill Aberdeen City and Shire at their meeting on Tuesday (June 15).

This month marks the 70th anniversary of the opening of Camphill Home for Boys and Girls at Camphill House in the Milltimber area of Aberdeen.

Speaker, Laurence Alfred, co-ordinator at Camphill School Aberdeen, will talk about how the Camphill founders escaped from the Nazi occupation of Austria and were welcomed into Aberdeen as refugees. The Camphill Movement now extends to more than 100 centres in 23 countries.

There are seven charities in Camphill Aberdeen City and Shire, providing personal development, care and medical support for children, young adults, adults and elderly people who have special needs.

More than 700 people live and work in Camphill Aberdeen City and Shire communities in Culter, Milltimber, Bieldside, Banchory Devenick and Arbuthnott.
